Chemours Process Engineer - Early Career in Delisle, Mississippi

Chemours is seeking an early-career Chemical Engineer to join our growing Titanium Technologies Finishing / Finished Products Technology team! This position will support our TiO2 manufacturing process and report directly to the Finishing Technical Manager at our DeLisle Plant in Pass Christian, MS. The site is a key asset in the Chemours supply chain for the Titanium Technologies Business.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technical support in the day-to-day operation of the plant, including process monitoring and data analysis, interacting with operating technicians, troubleshooting process and quality issues, and identification and implementation of improvement opportunities

  • Design and supervise plant tests in alignment with the strategic direction provided by the technical manager and plant and business leaders

  • Provide engineering expertise on unit operations such as reactors, heat and mass transfer, mixing systems, filtration technologies, gas-solids separation, gas burners and drying technologies, bulk solids handling, packaging equipment, etc.

  • Drive business initiatives for world class performance in safety, yield, uptime, quality, capacity, and minimization of environmental footprint that support the realization of the Chemours Corporate Responsibility Commitment goals

  • Develop and implement incremental improvements and/or new technologies to improve the safety, quality, cost, and environmental impact of the production unit

  • Provide guidance to Operations regarding safe operating limits for process equipment; ensure process safety information is accurate and up-to-date; lead Process Hazard Analysis review sessions; evaluate changes for compliance with Management of Change program requirements, including training; lead/participate in Incident Investigations; and understand and support Process Safety Management site objectives

  • Support new product development and/or serve as grade guardian for different product offerings

  • Lead site improvements from definition and research of opportunities, through laboratory and plant testing, and ultimately to design, installation, and startup of equipment

  • Update, review and approve process technology documents such as operating procedures, P&ID’s and SOC’s in order to meet PSM and Corporate standards

  • Embrace inclusion and teamwork to achieve business goals.

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (Mechanical Engineers with relevant experience will also be considered

  • 1-2 years of engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing setting (includes co-op/internship experience)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong computational and data analysis skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude

  • Capability to adapt well to a fast-paced working environment of multiple and/or rapidly evolving projects

  • Willingness to be on-call for plant support when required

  • Ability to lead and work in diverse cross-functional teams

  • Be a team player yet work independently to achieve goals

    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit :

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

  • Working knowledge of statistical process control for quality management

  • Experience in Minitab or other statistical analysis tool

  • Working knowledge of process engineering modeling tools (Aspen, Fathom, etc.)
