Chemours is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology team!

The Mechanical Engineer provides equipment technical expertise to support site manufacturing operations and ensures safety, reliability, capability, and productivity of the facilities.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to the manufacturing area operations for troubleshooting, modifying operating equipment and facilities, and PSM (Process Safety Management) related activities

  • Provide technical oversight for day-to-day operations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

  • Initiate Changes of Design (COD's) to the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit

  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise for project design work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards, and quality assurance

  • Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews

  • Collaborate with MIQA (mechanical integrity and quality assurance) lead on the implementation of best practices

  • Lead PSM criticality assessment process to ensure adequate rationale is provided to develop and manage MIQA effort, including critical spare parts identification and maintenance procedures

  • Assist capital project front-end loading to ensure equipment is specified meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life cycle cost. Provide process support to all project phases

  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and uptime data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment

  • Work on continuous improvement activities to improve area performance

  • Perform tests on the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit

  • Review, revise, and create procedures and other technical documentation

The following is required for this role:

  • Proficient in Dutch (or willing to learn it) and English.

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects

  • Ability to work in a team environment with high degree of initiative and self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely

  • Good communication skills
