Chemours is seeking a Process Mechanic to join our growing Maintenance & Reliability team! This position will report directly to a Maintenance Supervisor at our Louisville, KY location.

The Louisville Works Plant Process Mechanic accomplishes, with a minimum of supervision, a wide variety of maintenance assignments. The employee must be able to work overtime, ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs, wear industrial safety equipment; hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, chemical suit, lift 50 lbs., stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time, and be physically flexible including bending, rotating, kneeling.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Safely maintain all plant equipment, such as valves, pumps, agitators, fans, conveyors, pipework etc. per oral and written instructions

  • Assist in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required

  • Interpret single line diagrams, piping schematics, and mechanical drawings

  • Troubleshoot and dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment or parts

  • Clean and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery

  • Safely perform work outdoors during all types of weather conditions

  • Model appropriate behavior for: Environment, Health & Safety, Project Safety Management, Ethics and Core Values

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including an on-call schedule, evenings, and weekends as needed

  • Must have demonstrated human relations ability to show teamwork and resolving problems together; ability to develop effective working relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and customers, as well as internal personnel

  • Enter information in SAP to manage and complete Maintenance Work Orders

  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas

The following is required for this role:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the field of Industrial Mechanical Maintenance and/or Millwright, Pipefitter, Boilermaker experience

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Valid driver's license

  • Must pass basic proficiency exam, physical abilities test, drug screen, background check, and physical

  • Demonstrated competency in teamwork, analysis and judgment, innovation, prioritization and embracing change

  • Ability to work day work or 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays; and ability to work overtime as required

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications—Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Ability to maintain a respectful work environment

  • Strong communication skills

Additional information:

  • Applicant must successfully complete a validated aptitude test used in our hiring process and a skills assessment during the interview process.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Associate Degree, Journeyman's License, NCCER certification, certified welder or successfully completed vocational-tech program directly related to Mechanical Maintenance and Installation. Adequate relevant field experience may be considered.

  • Additional skills in the areas of HVAC, Civil Excavation, Machining, Welding, Pump rebuilds (centrifugal, canned, positive displacement, diaphragm), Lined pipe fabrication (PTFE, PFA)

  • Refinery/chemical plant or petrochemical experience

  • HAZMAT, Fire Brigade, and/or Emergency Responder training
