The Chemours Company headquartered in Wilmington, DE has a Quality and Lab Manager position available in Parkersburg, WV. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Operations function. This position will report to the FPS West End Unit Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Quality Manager

  • Coordinates the quality activities across all Fluoropolymer Solutions (FPS) operations at the site including customer, supplier, regulator authority and internal interfaces.

  • Responsible for the Quality Management System (QMS), customer satisfaction, quality certifications, quality related aspects of supplier and contract manufacturer relationships, training, quality audits, corrective and preventive action, development of a quality culture and link with senior management to drive continuous quality improvement.

  • Ensures that an appropriate quality management system is developed and maintained consistent with business and regulator needs.

  • Ensures through internal audit that the QMS standards are sustained and upgraded

  • Ensures global best practices and procedures are leveraged as appropriate.

  • Coordinates correct reporting, visualization, and accurate/timely communication of the quality policy and quality principles.

  • Ensures consistent measurement and reporting of quality performance within the organization that is consistent with FPS quality and business objectives.

  • Ensure supplier quality performance management is established and monitored across regions.

  • Has knowledge of relevant/key regulatory and quality system requirements.

  • Understands and reviews customer requirements, negotiates in the best interest of DuPont and customers, supports processes to assure customer needs are met, and ensures good data is obtained.

  • Supports cross-functional teams that are established to solve customer complaints and ensure problem resolution processes.

  • Reviews and approves quality information such as quality plans, incident investigations, control plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (FMEAs) prior to communication to customers and internal organizations.

  • Represents Washington Works in the FPS Quality Network and leads the network of site FPS quality resources.

  • Builds and develops quality culture and competency to enable the organization to meet quality requirements and facilitate continuous improvement.

  • Define and ensure minimum training requirements are fulfilled for quality professionals.

  • Lead and motivate quality resources in the business to develop clear Critical Operating Tasks (COTs) and to establish metrics and performance goals consistent with business needs through routine, established interactions in supply chain and business leadership meetings.

  • Ensures the organization operates in a safe and ethical way, consistent with DuPont core values

  • Provide guidance for all functions on quality process starting from Voice of the Customer (VOC) and product design up to product delivery to customer.

  • Represent quality on site FPS leadership team

  • Coordinate the collection, review and response to the following performance metrics:

o Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

o Complain and Complain feedback

o Quality Management Certification

o Audit scores and feedback

o Quality Restricted Inventory

o DPS Quality Deployment

o Other metrics as needed in support of business objectives

Lab Manager Tasks

  • Manage the overall laboratory operations to ensure accurate, timely data for product quality.

  • Monitor laboratory metric trends on a regular basis and ensuring that appropriate investigation, corrective actions and/or escalation is conducted as required for recurring trends involving products, methodologies and instrumentation

  • Lead/sponsor the implementation of improvement initiatives to address recurring laboratory issues.

  • Lead and develop employees to meet organizational expectations for productivity, quality and goal accomplishment.

  • Monitor the progress and process for troubleshooting and investigation studies for laboratory issues to ensure appropriate and consistent use of investigative tools and problem-solving techniques.

  • Establish and maintain an annual operational budget.

  • Assess new technology and laboratory automation in collaboration with Chemists to increase laboratory efficiency, reduce testing time, reduce data variability, minimize chemical consumption and reduce waste.

To be qualified for this role, you /must possess/ the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated manufacturing field

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

  • 5+ Years manufacturing experience

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with strong customer focus and ability to conceptualize customer needs based on customer input Proven ability to effectively communicate through all levels of an organization

  • Demonstrated analytic capability and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated change management skills

  • Demonstrated influence leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with a strong degree of flexibility and strong networking skills

  • Proven ability to manage collaborative work groups to solve business problems

  • Proven ability to lead workshops engaging diverse teams in problem solving

The following skill sets are /preferred/ by the business unit:

  • ASQ Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence Certification

  • Fluoropolymers manufacturing experience
