The Chemours Company headquartered in Wilmington, DE has a Research Scientist - Particle Toxicologist position available in Wilmington, DE. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs function. This position will report to the Global Product Manager - Plastics and Laminates.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Engages in the ongoing development of appropriate toxicity testing methodology for the assessment of materials containing particles
Monitors recent advances and trends in particle toxicology and pulmonary medicine
Collaborates with relevant academic, governmental, non-governmental and industrial groups related to TiO2 to further the fundamental understanding particle toxicology
Publishes pertinent scientific perspectives, journal articles and reviews to advocate for a science-based and balanced views on issues of impact to Titanium Technologies
Assesses toxicity studies published externally to determine the relevance and impact to Titanium Technologies
Develops toxicity studies internally for the development of new products and technology
Provides support for Titanium Technologies to ensure a science based approach to the global regulation of TiO2
In order to be qualified for this role, you /must possess/ the following:
Minimum of Ph.D. degree in toxicology or related discipline
Minimum 5-10 years of experience required in a related field
Expertise in at least one specialized area of toxicology, such as pulmonary, carcinogenicity, or teratology
Experience working on toxicology studies (design and data generated) required for regulatory agencies
Excellent, effective oral and written communication skills, with experience writing scientific reports, hazard evaluations, and position papers
The following skill sets are /preferred/ by the business unit:
Experience interacting with regulatory agencies in the US, Europe, AP or globally through white papers or in-person meetings
Experience communicating with non-science staff, including leadership, business management and customers
Strong analytical capability to evaluate and scrutinize data, process information, and provide assessments
Knowledge in one or more emerging areas of toxicological research, such as predictive in silico / in vitro toxicology, transcriptomics, and mixture toxicology
